Question:
I have docking station for my new Dell Latitude and I plugged in one monitor via VGA and the other DVI. However, the VGA monitor remains blank, and I don’t see a third monitor in display settings. Do I need to do something on my PC to make this additional monitor work?
Thanks!

The Windows Vista Resource Kit is now available for order from Amazon.com or your local bookstore. It’s the definitive guide on Vista, and there can’t possibly be another book like it–nobody else had direct access to internal Microsoft product managers and developers like we (the Vista Resource Kit authors) did. Not only did we lean on those internal resources heavily for the details of how everything in Vista works, but those guys contributed many “Direct from the source” sidebars describing the inner workings of different Vista features.
Many thanks to Mitch and Jerry (the other authors), Martin DelRe, Linda Engelman, and the dozens of other Microsofties who helped make it possible!
Hope you like it!
Question:
So I want to use Bitlocker, don’t have a TPM and my bios doesn’t seem to ’see’ the usb drives in time.
Now I know I can still use bitlocker… by entering a 48 or so pin key but that’s a bit too long.
I could update my Bios but I have the latest version and when I rang Dell they didn’t think it would be updated. There must be another answer, there are other programs out there but I have Vista, any idea for a work around?
Generic firmware for the Bios? Key stored on a CD?
It seems the USB requirement is pointless and restricting, after all the best key or password is one only in my head not on a USB drive.

Question:
 Hi Tony
I came across your Microsoft article about dual screens when looking into MaxiVista and Ultramon. However, both of these applications are ‘just’ outside of the scope i require.
I am searching for an application which will enable the mirroring or cloning of a window. Not the entire screen.
I would like a remote system to view only select information, not my entire desktop. eg. I would have the ViewWindow open, and I would then drag into the window images, files I would like the remote system to display.
It will be similar to mirroring/cloning, as only a display of it is required. The remote system will ’see’ it only. But only ’see’ what i choose, not the entire desktop and normal operations.
Do you know of any program which would be able to do this?
I thought of using Ultramon on an extended display, so I would have Mon1 and Mon2. I would then operate my local system on Mon1 and treat Mon2 as a separate screen.
Then apply MaxiVista to Mon2 and to the remote Mon3, as MaxiVista can only mirror one to one. However, will MaxiVista choose Mon1 over Mon3?
Or will Ultramon allow mirroring over a network as MaxiVista does?
Looking forward to your reply.

Question:
Tony,
Ihope you get this. This is in regards to an article you wrote (Using Multiple Monitors with Windows XP, July 26, 2004).
Previously when using TestDirector, when I opened a search for a defect, a popup window appeared right in the center of my screen. But, now that I have DualView, the popup box appears like this:
(click to view the full image)
It’s way over to the right of my laptop monitor, half on, half off. This is not a problem for me since I can drag it back into the viewable area. But, for some of our testers the box is outside the viewing area of both the laptop screen and the extra monitor.  We can get the box to come back by right-clicking the task bar and cascading the windows. Which is an acceptable work-around. But, it there a way to specify where the box appears???
Thanks,
Michael
