I have a ikon on my desktop (my pictures). Some of the folders are missing pictures and some of the folders are missing. How can I get them back? They are not in my recycle bin. I can go into start, Windows Photo Gallery) and they are there. I have all this stuff like rating, dates, tags that I don't give a hoot about. Things have changed in there too. I have to click on all sorts of things before all my pictures come up. I can not upload them on facebook because they show title, but no pictures in there. I might need to tell you I lost some desktop ikons, but got them back, then I lost my favorites list, now this. Please can you help me? I have Windows Vista.

Whoever designed Vista should be shot. I could handle XP very well - I could find anything , find my music, gather recent files, send faxes.

Then some lunatics got hold of Windows and decided to make it very difficult to find my music files. Or find much of anything.

I used to be able to just search for all music files. Loved it I could search for all word documents, all text documents, all documents the last month, or last whatever.

Now -- there is probably a way - - but you have cleverly hid it. It takes me a long time to find recent files and find anything.

I would revert to XP in a minute if I could figure out how. Vista is really terrible. You all should be ashamed of yourselves. I regret the day I ever bought Vista. I hope Windows 7 is better -- I just bought a lap top for my son in law.

How can newer versions be so much less usable than old versions? Do you folks not research this at all? Do you even consider how people use their computer to find stuff?

Gareth, you can do that to the folders by right-clicking them and going to properties, there will be a tab called location. make your changes there. windows vista will prompt you that you will get 2 copys of the folder if you change the location to another drive, like from C to D. just as a heads up.

well, that's all fine and good, pictures is still there... and renamed as pictures rather than my pictures... but where is music. the folder has disappeared entirely, and there is a shortcut to "my music" in documents, which tells me I don't have administrator rights to open the folder. (I am the only user on my laptop, and certainly have all admin rights - additionally have tried starting in safe mode and logging into admin user to change this, to no avail...) What's going on?

[...] Hi, Greg. Your documents should be in the Documents folder (it’s been renamed from “My Documents”). You can click Start, Documents.
