Offer Remote Assistance from XP to Vista

Question:

If I am using XP professional, can I offer remote assistance to someone using Vista through Messenger?

Thanks.

Ken

Answer:

Sorry, according to Chapter 23 of the Windows Vista Resource Kit (one of the chapters that Mitch wrote), “Offer RA via Messenger is a new feature in Vista and is not available in Windows XP“. You can save the Remote Assistance invitation as a file and then transfer it to the Vista user, however.

“You can save the Remote Assistance invitation as a file and then transfer it to the Vista user, however.” Would this then allow an XP Pro user the ability to assist a Vista user? In my case, a novice has purchased Vista, and is asking if I (XP Pro user) can in anyway connect via remote assistance to help with Vista.
