Video Drivers Automatically Restart After Crashing

Here’s one of those good-news, bad-news things. The good news is, video drivers can crash and then automatically restart in Windows Vista, without causing a Stop error (bluescreening) or requiring you to reboot. The screen just goes black for a second, and then comes back. The bad news? You might need it. It happens pretty regularly to me.

… I’m still waiting for Dell to release those updated NVidia drivers …

My windows vista crashes after I run a virus check. While running the check, the system goes into screen saver mode. I leave the computer to finish. When I return, the system will not wake up. have to turn it off and start–and then it reads resuming windows. Then, I get an error message that something is wrong with either my memory, video adapter, hardware or software. I checked the memory and adapter and they checked Ok. Ive eliminated any recent shareware. Note that it only crashes when the system is left on and the screensaver apparently stops and the system stops.
